Dear CoaH Families:
I am writing with information about our (1) Spring 2019 Family Meeting; (2) ways you can support your student in preparing for the MCAS; and (3) the Circuit Street principal search.
You are cordially invited to our Spring 2019 Family Meetings on the following dates:
- March 5, 2019 – 6:00PM-7:30PM (New Bedford)
- March 12, 2019 – 6:00PM-7:30PM (Dudley Square)
- March 19, 2019 – 6:00PM-7:30PM (Circuit Street)
Our Fall meetings were a success, but I am hoping many more families will be in attendance next month.
As I have previously stated, these twice annual events are designed to create a consistent opportunity for you to directly ask myself and other CoaH administrators about your student, our school, and the organization as a whole. The meetings will occur in the Forum in a question and answer format; dinner will be served and an age-appropriate movie will be available for families with children.
Tenth graders will begin MCAS testing at the end of March – June 2019. The linked flyer lists free online resources in Math, ELA and Science and five (5) ways you can help your child succeed on the tests.
As a reminder, all students must pass the MCAS to graduate from City on a Hill. We strongly recommend that students, under the supervision of their parents, take advantage of these free resources and helpful reminders in the evenings, over weekends and breaks and until testing is over.
Principal Update (Circuit Street Only)
After a thorough search process which included multiple candidates, students and staff, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Luz Valverde has accepted the role as principal of Circuit Street effective Friday, February 15.
A former teacher, school administrator and acting principal, Dr. Valverde brings a wealth of experience to the role. Prior to signing on as VP at Circuit Street in early January, she was assistant principal at Randolph High School and assistant principal at Andover High School before that. She is a graduate of UMass – Boston and Eastern Nazarene College. The search for a new VP at Circuit Street continues.
Again, I look forward to seeing you in March and hope that you will take these steps to ensure your student in preparing for the MCAS. If you have any questions, please contact Jordan Pina, Executive Assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
