Letter to CoaH Families – July 13, 2020

Dear City on a Hill Community,

Thank you for your continued partnership, particularly over the past few months. We appreciate all the hard work and determined effort that you put in to ensure your students’ continued learning during these unprecedented times. Our teachers, school leaders, families, staff, and the entire community rose to the challenge. As we continue to work hard to improve, we will be reaching out for feedback, so that we can provide unique and enriching opportunities when school reopens.  Please make sure that the school has your most up to date address, phone number, and email so that we can maintain open lines of communication.  With the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape, we never know which method(s) will be most expedient. Whenever you need to update your contact information, please call or email the Front Office Manager, Marisol Figueroa at 617-445-1515 or mfigueroa@cityoanhill.org.

School Location

When we return to school, we will have combined both Boston campuses back into the flagship location at 58 Circuit St in Roxbury.  That is where all City on a Hill students will be attending school in the fall.

Reopening

The State of Massachusetts released their recommendations for the reopening of schools. We are reviewing these guidelines along with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and will share with you our plans for reopening as soon as we are able. In line with recommendations, we will be preparing three different models for reopening school:

  1. Fully remote learning
  2. Modified in-person learning in school buildings
  3. A combination of remote and in-person learning

The most important aspect for us is to secure the health and well-being of our students and staff.  We are working tirelessly to ensure that we’ve thought through every consideration, checked every box, and are prepared to address every issue. We commit to working with you to build our reopening plans.

Parent/Guardian Feedback

We are continually monitoring public health guidance to inform our preparation and coordinating closely with our city and state health officials.  We also want to make sure that we are coordinating with our families and have created this survey to gain your feedback both on our reopening plans and on your thoughts to improve remote learning.

In these very difficult and uncertain times, we are looking to provide our students with a sense of stability and a safe learning environment.  Your feedback is crucial to making sure this can happen and we look forward to receiving it.

Sincerely,
