Chief Executive Officer
Kevin joined the City on a Hill Team in 2018 from KIPP Massachusetts where he was Chief Operating Officer with management responsibility for multiple facets of the organization including finance, operations, general counsel, technology, facilities and real estate teams, as well as human resources, recruitment and talent. He was actively involved in the advocacy and growth efforts for the region. Kevin has also served as Treasurer of the Massachusetts Charter Public Schools Association and Vice-President of the Boston Charter Association. He was previously the Director of Finance for Achievement First, where he was responsible for budgeting and forecasting for AF’s New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island schools and the network office and leading AF’s “scaling with excellence” finance initiatives, including implementations of an automated accounts payable system, online credit card and personal expense reimbursement tool, online budgeting and forecasting portal and fixed asset software. A former news reporter, Kevin majored in political science and mathematics at Tuskegee University. Though he now pastors a congregation in Brooklyn, NY, he is the immediate past pastor of the oldest African-American church in New Bedford. Indeed, Kevin sees education as a form of ministry and the civil rights movement of the 21st century and is working tirelessly to close the achievement gap, increase literacy, and impact education for students of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Human Capital Coordinator
Yaw joined the City on a Hill Network Office in 2019 from Lowell, MA where he was the Leadership for Educational Equity ArtUP fellow at Project LEARN. There, he supported the organization by executing program development and communications for multiple initiatives and facilitated Equity, Diversity and Inclusion training workshops. Previously, he served as an urban educator and a Program Director for the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, a non-profit organization committed to mentoring and preventing minority male dropouts in Florida. Over the course of five years, he supported students and their families in Miami-Dade public schools and advocated for innovative EdTech solutions to be utilized in the teaching model. As the Human Capital Coordinator at City on a Hill, Yaw provides administrative support to all employees, assists with recruitment, and maintains employee records for the human resources department. Yaw is a Teach for America alumni, received an M.S. in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins School of Education and majored in Political Science from College of the Holy Cross. Director of Development Operations
Jenny joined City on a Hill as the Director of Development Operations in July 2019. Prior to joining CoaH she was a Technical Advisor for the Bantwana Initiative of World Education, Inc. (WEI), where she supported and wrote grants for donor-funded child protection programs in sub-Saharan Africa. She has worked in international public health and education since 2008, with experience managing multimillion-dollar donor-funded projects, supporting operations and new business development, and strengthening management and operational systems for organizations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She began her career working for a college study abroad program in South India, and she helped establish an educational travel program for high school students, leading trips to Haiti and India. After many years of supporting teams located halfway around the world, she is excited to bring her passion for education and experience in grant writing, grants management, program operations and development communications home to Boston. Jenny has her MA in International Education from New York University, and BA in English Literature from Bowdoin College. She lives in Quincy, MA, and loves to explore the Blue Hills with her dog. Chief Operating Officer
Liz is the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing finance and operations at City on a Hill. Liz is also a Resident in the 2018-2020 cohort of the Broad Residency for Urban Education. Before joining COAH in August 2018, Liz was the Senior Director of Finance at KIPP Massachusetts. Prior to embarking on a career in urban education, Liz worked as an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse, management consultant at Bain & Company, and the Director of Marketing and Business Development at Knowre, an ed tech company. She earned a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Liz was born in South Korea and grew up in California. She lives in the north shore with her husband and two children. Chief Academic Officer
Prior to joining A City on the Hill, Amber served as the Executive Director of Secondary Academics for Boston Public Schools. In the past, she served as a teacher, lead teacher, co-principal, and Chief Academic Officer of a charter school network. In addition, Amber also worked for a school turnaround non-profit organization as the National Program Director overseeing school turnaround efforts across the country. She holds two B.A. degrees in Communications and Education from the University of Michigan and a M.A. degree in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University. Director of Specialized Services
Allison has worked for City on a Hill for nine years in a variety of roles. Although she currently serves as the Director of Specialized Services, she has previously served as a paraprofessional, founding special education teacher, and Director of Special Education. Allison earned her bachelor's degree from Stonehill College in History, but has since earned degrees from both Simmons College and the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Regional Director of Operations
Katie joined City on a Hill in 2009 and currently serves as the Regional Director of Operations for the Network, where she previously served as Director of Data & Compliance. Prior to moving to the network team Katie served as the Registrar, Operations Manager, and Data Coordinator for the flagship school. Before joining the City on a Hill team Katie got her start in charter schools at MATCH Charter School were she served a year as a full-time tutor and AmeriCorps member at the high school before joining the founding team at the middle school as a Corps Staff member. Katie holds a B.A. with a double major in History & Social Sciences and Political Science from Eastern Connecticut State University, as well as an M.B.A. from Boston University. Data Analyst & Manager
Jessica joined City on a Hill in June 2015 as Office Manager of the Circuit Street school and has been part of the Network since July 2016 serving as Data Coordinator and now Data Analyst & Manager. She graduated from Northeastern University where she earned her degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Business Administration. Before working at CoaH, she was a part of the marketing team for an intellectual property software company in Back Bay. Jessica grew up outside of Chicago and in Singapore before moving to Boston for college, and currently lives in Roslindale with her spouse. Accounts Payable Coordinator
Mevis joined City on a Hill as the Accounts Payable Coordinator in August 2018. Prior to joining CoaH, she worked at Public Partnerships-PCG for over 5 years as a Financial Operations Specialist where she processed payroll for multiple Massachusetts DDS programs. She was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras before moving to MA in late 2000 and becoming a US citizen in 2012. Before obtaining citizenship she did 7 years of volunteer work with The Jimmy Fund Foundation as well as The Greater Boston Food Bank. She currently live in Malden with her spouse, newborn baby and her dog Yogi. She enjoys traveling the world, sowing seeds/ caring for plants, and interior decorating. Deputy Chief of Staff
Jordan joined the City on a Hill Network Office in 2018 from KIPP Massachusetts where she was the Executive Assistant to the Leadership Team. There, she supported the Regional Office Leadership Team by executing event logistics, liaising with school leaders, managing special projects, and leading staff professional development sessions. Previously, she served as Training Operations Associate and Data Manager at The Management Center (TMC), a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, which coaches progressive and educational equity organizations across the country on management practices. Over the course of two years at TMC, she built out the training operations and data systems to scale as the organization quadrupled in size, and supported the creation of their People of Color and Indigenous Cohorts. As Deputy Chief of Staff at City on a Hill, Jordan manages the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), supports the Chief of Staff & General Counsel with strategic and special projects, and oversees our Diversity, Inclusion, Citizenship, and Equity (DICE) initiatives. Outside of CoaH, Jordan enjoys reading true crime novels and spending time with her family. Chief Schools Officer / Principal of Boston Schools
Sonya Pratt is Chief Schools Officer for City on a Hill, serving as the Principal for both Boston schools, and has worked for the City on a Hill organization for 17 years. Ms. Pratt began her tenure at City on a Hill as a teaching fellow in the History Department. Ms. Pratt later served as the Dean of Citizenship and Vice Principal of the City on a Hill Circuit Street in Roxbury before becoming Founding Principal of City on a Hill Dudley Square until 2018. During her time at City on a Hill, Ms. Pratt helped found the Freshman Academy program, which is a staple program, integral to City on a Hill’s culture and focus on citizenship. A life-long resident of Boston, Ms.Pratt received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State College and a Master’s of Education from Northeastern University. Director of Professional Learning, Curriculum & Licensure
Carrie joined City on a Hill in the Fall of 2018 as the Director of Teacher Development & Licensure. She attended Yale University and graduated as a History major. She moved to Boston right after college to teach at Mother Caroline Academy, a Nativity model school in Dorchester, where she taught for two years. She has been working in schools and teaching ever since, including three years as the Educational Coordinator for a tutoring program and 17 years as a History and English Teacher, Department Head, Dean, and Vice Principal at Cristo Rey Boston High School. She earned her master's degree from Wesleyan University and wrote her master's thesis on the Electoral College. Carrie got married in Yellowstone Park in 2010 and lives with her husband, two kids, and two dogs. She loves ice cream, hiking, baking, reading, and listening to news and podcasts.
