Dear City on a Hill Families,

FINALS EXAM START NEXT WEEK!

As the summer weather sets in we want to remind everyone of the very busy week of final exams we have ahead. By this time, students have received an individual email with their Final Exam schedule and information.  If they have not received anything, please call the school IMMEDIATELY to find out your students’ schedule.  Here is a reminder of everything families need to know.

  • Students who come to school in person will take their exams and do their oral presentations in person.

  • Students who are remote will take their exams and do their oral presentations remotely.

  • Online Oral Presentations will be attended by Community Jurors as well as teachers.

  • If students do not take a class in a certain subject, they may not have an exam that day (but should double check their individual schedule).  If students do not have a written exam, they do not need to be present or to log into zoom at 8:00am.

  • Some students who take more than one class in a given subject will receive an individualized schedule indicating which day they will take each exam.

  • At 10:00am, students will be dismissed/can log off zoom for the day until their next written exam or their oral presentation.

Please see below for the general exam schedule:

Additional notes:

  • If students miss a written exam or oral proficiency, and it is not an excused absence, they will receive a zero.  Absences are excused for Court Dates, Religious Holidays, Medical Emergencies, Death in the Family/Funeral.  Any exceptions to this rule must be approved by Laura Edouard, Principal or Sonya Pratt, Chief Schools Officer.

  • If remote students experience technical issues during a written exam or oral proficiency, they should call the school immediately, and email [email protected].  Failure to do so could result in a student receiving a zero on their exam.

EQUIPMENT RETURN

Students must return the following equipment NO LATER THAN Tuesday, June 22.

  • Chromebook & Charger

  • Hotspot & Charger

  • English books

  • Textbooks

In person students should return their equipment after their last test.  Remote students should bring the materials to school after their last test or oral proficiency.

As we prepare for these very important last weeks of school, I want to remind you of the words of Colin Powell, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” Your young people have prepared for these exams, I have no doubt that they will be successful.

Best,

Laura Edouard, Principal Sonya Pratt, Chief of School
