City on a Hill Charter Public School Home

We are Grizzlies

A Message from the Executive Director, Sonya Pratt:

As we embark on our 28th year as a Charter High School in Boston, we are reminded that City on a Hill is much more than just a place to go to school.  City on a Hill is a community of people; students, families, staff, and stakeholders, who are inspired by our vision, driven by our mission of Citizenship, and our core values of Public Accountability, Academic Achievement, and Teacher Leadership. I am grateful to have been a member of this remarkable community for the past 20 years and excited to be stewarding City on a Hill into a new era.

It is easy to look back on the past few years and focus on the missteps or lost opportunities, but instead I challenge our resilient community to focus on the successes we have experienced despite our recent challenges, and to be motivated by our perseverance and the great opportunities and successes we know are ahead.  As we continue to reflect on and revise our academic program, we continue to make improvements to our culture and climate as well.  We are moving forward with a renewed focus on not just academic progress, but also dismantling the school to prison pipeline, and fostering the social emotional growth of our young people who we know have been greatly impacted not only by the COVID-19 pandemic but also by environmental trauma.  Additionally, we are committed to building and deepening our partnerships with our broader community and, most importantly, with our City on a Hill families.  Moreover, in the spirit of public accountability, our Leadership Team and our talented staff maintain an open-door policy where community members, change-makers, and families are welcome to come and observe, give feedback, and most importantly, celebrate with our young scholars.

It's a great time to be a City on a Hill Grizzly.
